Hand Embroidered Exclusive Cashmere Pashmina
Exclusive limited edition hand-embroidered and hand-loomed finest cashmere pashmina. A beautiful example of Jamawar handwork, the intricate needlework densely covers the rich blue cashmere fabric with large paisley swirls and floral motifs. This shawl is a 'Master Work', with the quality of the cashmere and the intricate embroidery, it is truly a work of art.
The cashmere for this piece was sourced in Ladakh, collected from private herds of Changthani goats, where temperatures can reach minus 35 degrees during winter in this cold desert region of the Himalayas. The cashmere is then washed, carded, and de-haired by hand. De-hairing is the process of removing the guard hair (thick hair) from the pashmina fibres so that only the finest hairs remain. The cashmere from this region is considered amongst the best in the world; it is combed from the chest and underbelly of the goats is light and warm, with excellent insulating properties; the fibres are extremely fine, ranging from 9 to 16 microns.
This is a wonderful example of classic needlework, handcrafted on handwoven cashmere.
