Edward Bear by Merrythought

Meet Edward Bear, a traditional handmade British teddy bear by Merrythought. Edward is a beautiful replica of the bear who famously inspired A.A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh stories. First created by Farnell in 1921, Edward has been brought to life again as the star of the major feature film Goodbye Christopher Robin.

Purchased from Harrods by Daphne Milne for her young son, Christopher Robin, Edward Bear and his owner formed a unique bond and became the best of friends. Christopher's father, AA Milne, was so captivated by the wonderful partnership he witnessed between a boy and his bear that he decided to pen stories about their eventful journey through life together.

Hand-crafted in England using the same traditional skills and materials as Christopher Robin's original Edward bear, this handsome chap features a rich, antique golden mohair coat, sandy-beige pure woollen felt paws and deep amber eyes that show a longing to be loved. With a finely hand-embroidered nose and an endearing smile, he has a quintessential charm that can only be found in a teddy bear of such timeless design and heritage.

True to the original, Edward Bear also “growls” when tipped. Recreated by Merrythought as a Special Edition, each bear is individually numbered and presented in a Farnell by Merrythought cloth gift bag.

Little Edward Bear is also available in a smaller size at 11 inches high.

Edward Bear is CE-marked and tested to European and US product safety standards, including EN71-part 2 Flammability. He is suitable for children, although it is advised that accessories (such as labels, ribbons or clothing) are removed before giving to small children.
